Threatening or disrespectful behavior and/or comments will be addressed may result in being removed from this course.

GRADING

Grade disputes

Grade disputes will only be discussed privately in my office. Any request for review must be submitted to me in writing along with the paper/exam in question. You will explain why you disagree, and provide any information that you think will substantiate your point of view. I will review your submission and, if necessary, I will meet with you in private to discuss your concerns.

Listening Skill-Building Project: (60%). Each exercise is worth 10 pts. Your writing must be neat, legible, and small enough (but not too small!!) to go into depth on each line of every question. USE PEN!

Fully completed exercises will receive 10 pts. Lack of specifics, vagueness, "idealism talk", incomplete work, large or illegible handwriting, and spelling and grammar errors will lower your scores incrementally. Many people use the exercise as a template and create a document for easy typing~E.please go ahead and do this if you choose. Do not type on the forms in the packet, the lines make such attempts difficult!!

Project Points: 120 - 113 = A; 112- 105 = B; 104 - 97 = C; 96 - 89 = D; 88 --> = F

Midterm and Final: (30pts each) The midterm and final exams will be based on key concepts, listening types and improvement strategies outlined in the text and in lecture. Scantron Forms and a highlighter will be needed.

Quizzes: There will be two quizzes worth 10 points each. You will need a scantron, a #2 pencil and a highlighter.

Due Dates Are Not Negotiable! If you know you're going to be out of town, you need to arrange before the due date to submit your work. If you are sick, you may fax the exercise on the day of class, but note handwritten fax copies often don't transfer clearly, and you will still need to submit the original copy by the next class date. Fax.# 503.725.5385

ALL late work will be marked down 5 pts. You have one week to submit late work, after which it will not be graded.
