Darlene Geiger, Senior Instructor, received the John Eliot Allen Teaching Award for 2008-2009 for her excellence in teaching. The award demonstrates her students' respect and admiration for her passion and skills in the classroom. Ron Roley works for Nike promoting athletic events across the globe. The 2004 graduate spoke with Tom Stevenson about his athletic career and how his entrepeneurial spirit led him to design a new product for wines. See the Profile section link above. Communcation graduate student Mami Kikuchi presented an award-winning paper in August 2008 at the national conference of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication. The paper, which was co-authored with Prof. Cynthia Coleman, began as a research project Kikuchi developed during a communication course in research methods for graduate students. The paper, "Explicating and measuring social relationships in social capital research," received a top prize at the conference, which met in Chicago. Vernita Porter and 16 fellow undergraduate students joined four graduate students to present their research in April at the annual meeting of the Northwest Communication Association in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
